FOREST SPIRIT

Look Dev & Surface Artist

Software: Maya, Arnold, Substance Painter, Mudbox, After Effects, Media Encoder

Forest Spirit first was one of the first characters that i was able to bring from concept to fully rendered and rigged model. In order to complete this project, I used many different software programs including photoshop, Maya, 3D coat, mud box, Z brush, substance painter, and Anorld. While in this process I worked with animator Mathilde George to get the piece above

In order to be able to rig my character in Maya, I removed some elements from my character. As challenging as it was, it was still a valuable skill to be able to learn. In addition to giving arms and legs more flexibility, a twisting and bending element was added as well to allow for more bend and range of motion.

To add some additional detail, the character was modeled in Maya, then moved into a mudbox to work on arm bark, collar bones, ribs and other areas.

The next step was to move on to texture the model now that I had completed my high resolution mesh with the desired level of detail. I was able to bake the information into my low poly model and start working on trying to match the general color palette. The eyes and wings were added with emission at the beginning of the process to create an effect that goes beyond our understanding of the world
